The ferry at the start of the Atlantic Road has now been replaced by an underwater tunnel linking Kristiansund and Averøy. It was opened 19th December 2009.
This means that there will no longer long waits and capacity
problems, allowing increased flexibility for tourists visiting the Atlantic
Road or the port of Kristiansund next summer. The tunnel charge will be about
the same as for the old ferry crossing.
